As much as I like using software made in the EU, I noticed ProtonVPN in a negative way. Websites thought I was in Israel. Dnsleaktest.com confirmed my suspicions. It was connecting to servers in Germany that didn't belong to Proton, but to external companies with connections outside the EU... Absolute NOGO

I'd love to download that update, but as I'm already a ProtonVPN user, the download ALWAYS fails.
Somewhat ironic that in order to get an update to have ProtonVPN incorporated into Vivaldi, I've got to go naked and turn off my VPN to download the update...

I love Vivaldi. So much, in fact, that I considered becoming an "ambassador." And while I think offering a ready-made free VPN can be a good thing, the timing of this couldn't be much worse given the recent developments with Proton that led myself and many others to wrap up our Proton subscriptions. Whether we like to think otherwise or not, *everything* is political, and I actually love Vivaldi not only because of their excellent product but for the fact they have hardly pretended to be politically "neutral" (and we all know what Desmond Tutu said about those that pursue "neutrality"); Vivaldi have been outspoken about Trump's "Big Tech" friends, AI, and - unlike Proton - are passionate about the Fediverse. So this doesn't seem like a good fit at all.

how can I turn it off? I don’t want protonvpn. I used to like proton, but i’m transitioning out of their products since the board of directors is quiet about the online behavior of their ceo. Also, they make misleading about their services.

Wonder if this will give a better ser experience for people using Vivaldi on linux, will this finally mean that there is some officially supported GUI for ProtonVPN coming to linux? No offence to the unofficial gui but it's a shame it doesn't have things like the Stealth protocol and alternate routing. Would be nice to see those features added to a GUI interface.
