From the help files, it sounds like video embeds should work out of the box. I've enabled the NoEmbed and StandardEmbeds addons in the admin panel, and there doesn't seem to be anything to enable in the user panel. Pasting a Youtube link (ie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z57ocWJ9jeo ) only creates a link with ^#, though, rather than embedding. I also notice that link previews aren't generated.

Did you just paste the link into the text or did you use the "Insert link" button to add it?

The word "embed" finally sank in and I realize you are talking about the video view frame being inside the message box, not a fancier-looking link, which is what the Insert Link button gives. I have posted these before using the zvideo tag, but only with videos uploaded to my channel. I try it below with the youtube video from the OP, but it isn't working in the preview. [Edit: or after I posted my reply]
